MARK BLAND

Mark Bland was born in Kingston, Ontario Canada in 1982. He moved to Toronto in 2001 to begin his studies in Integrated Media at the Ontario College of Art and Design: University (OCAD: U). Graduating in 2005, his thesis revolving around wearable art and technology as an extension of our bodies, titled ‘The Self Viewing Backpack’, was selected by a jury of established artists to be shown on display at Gallery 61 for Toronto’s Go-West exhibition. After graduating from OCAD: U Mark continued to explore his artistic and digital media-based practices while working abroad in the high fashion industry as a model. In 2015 Mark went on to show his first interactive VR (virtual reality) installation piece titled ‘The Image Accumulator’ at the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto (at the time called Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art). This was shown during the last Video Drome video performance and installation-based show.

In 2020 Mark began work on his latest series titled ‘Fractal Totems’ and in February 2021 Mark took his first steps into the world of Crypto Art and Non-Fungible-Tokens (NFT’s). His latest series Fractal Totems would serve as his first series to be offered on the block chain market.

Mark Bland lives and works in Toronto, Canada.
